Paul Videsott speaks in Brussels about the digitisation of Ladin
Paul Videsott took part in the event Regional and minority languages. Game changer in the conventional digital world? organised by the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino on the occasion of the European Day of Languages in Brussels with his contribution ‘Minority languages and digital world: the experience of the Ladin user interface’. The seminar, which was also attended by Lórant Vincze, President of FUEN, Tarja Turtia from UNESCO and Kevin Chan from Meta, as well as André Comploi, Head of the Ladin Education Department, and language and technology experts from countries such as New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and India, focused on two main topics. The first topic concerned the question of how digital technologies can make the use and revitalisation of regional and minority languages tangible in today's technology-oriented world. The second topic dealt with the cultural impact of AI (artificial intelligence) and digital platforms on the promotion of linguistic heritage, the transmission of this knowledge between generations and cultural identity.
